MU Hoops head coach Mike Anderson has brought his Arkansas background into the great, snowy state of Missouri, and along with him came the notorious "forty minutes of hell." Although, after watching the boys treat the Arkansas Hogbacks like the ESPN and Fox networks treat the Cardinals in the midst of a World Series run, with no respect, my buddy Jeff made his own assessment on the Tigers thus far: "forty minutes of hell? More like forty minutes of Armageddon."
That's the truth, folks, MU Hoops looks like a fun team to watch this season, instead of the same ole strung out boys that played with Coach Snyder for the last six years. This team seems like they're real to me, and everybody who's an avid reader of my blogs knows that I don't hop on MU bandwagons that often. Most of the time they make me sick, but I can handle this wagon. I'm on.
With sharpshooter Matt Lawrence, who never got a true shot under Coach Q, hitting treys at a .538 clip, junior college transfer Stefhon Hannah gettin' 14.3 a game, and big boy Kalen Grimes going for 11 a game (which isn't really that impressive. Plus, Grimes has been accussed of stealing numbers of DVD's from me at a house party two years ago. I still haven't forgiven him. Among the DVDs were John Mayer: Live at Any Given Thursday, Boondock Saints, Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs and more). (But all this is irrelevant considering Lineas Kleize stole my girlfriend freshman year. You can now understand why I don't usually enjoy MU Hoops.)
But all that aside, it's about defense this year. And the D' Squad has been stealing games all season. And you can say exactly what I was saying about two weeks ago - "5-0, 6-0, 7-0? Big Deal, they haven't played anybody." True, but they never play anybody this early in the year, and they are usually about 5-3 at this time, instead of 8-0.
So get excited, I guess. But keep an eye out for the rankings. If Missouri cracks the Top 25 in the coming weeks we will begin our weekly series: "Does the Missouri Sports Top 25 Curse exist?"
Every time they get there, no matter if it's basketball or football, it usually means they perform an immediate collapse. And armageddon ensues.
Or maybe Mike Anderson has different plans this season?

I haven't had the opportunity to watch them play yet. In fact, I have had no desire to watch Mizzou hoops because of the past couple of years. I couldn't have even told you one player from there team. This being said, I might have to check them out when I get a chance. Sounds to me like I better hurry up and watch them before they crack the top 25.
We are finding out just how bad Quinn was.
