There's nothing like an angry Reddog from Sikeston to get me out of the woods and back to the computer. I figured somebody would start talking some shit sooner or later about me never writing, but I didn't assume it would be trash talk in regards to Sikeston and Notre Dame. I should've figured.
When Mark called and told me I had a post after two idle months I was a bit surprised. But it's good to know at least one guy out there still, for one reason or another, remembers me as a trash-talking blogger. I'm not sure where that reputation came from, but I guess I'll take it.
Cheers to Sikeston for puttin' a whoopin' on Notre Dame twice thus far this season. Perhaps the tide has changed. Sikeston seems to be the better team, post-Ryan Willen. I have no qualms about admitting that, in case homeboy thought I was going to try to defend Notre Dame and make sappy excuses about why the blue couldn't hang with the red, which I've never done. It's cool, though.
Mark speaks the truth in his response; I've been away from a computer for a couple months now. I must say it's been fantastic. The only local sports updates that I've heard of are the ones I get when I talk to the family, and I haven't had any time to blog about. I've completely lost touch with St. Louis sports scene, and my lone exposure to traditional sports in the last two months was Mizzou's bowl game last weekend, which was nice. It was good to see the Tigers get a win. It's obvious that, defensively, they're about as good as 11 rocks in a bag. You could pull 11 homeless guys off the streets and tell them you'll feed them for one night if they play defense for your football team, and they would've made the Tigers look bad. There are some bright spots at the linebacker position, but for the most part they were downright pathetic.
I was also happy to hear Dave Christenson will be moving on to be the head coach at Wyoming. Some may miss the guy, but his completely ignorant play-calling and his fear of making smart play calls on short yardage situations will certainly not be missed by this man. Farewell Dave.
It was a pleasure getting to watch Chase Daniel play these last four years. I wish his senior campaign would've played out better for him, but you can't win 'em all. Here's to hoping that he goes on to a successful professional career.
Between the Blues, the Rams, and the Cardinals these days there just isn't all that much to talk about. The Cardinals' front office has done an impressive job of making the media and some of the people in St. Louis think they're making major improvements to their ballclub. But that's a hoax. Kahlil Greene sucks. And Trever Miller isn't much to talk about either. The truth is simple: The front office needs to go out and sign or trade for an impact player.
I'm a complete advocate of using the farm system to its fullest capabilities and bringing up young talent through your organization, but the truth is that young players need quality, proven, talented veterans to learn from. These middle line guys that the Cardinals have been signing for the last five years now, who are kind of good but not really all that good ballplayers, just aren't going to cut it anymore. Go out and get another big bat or another ace starter and lets win some damn ballgames.
Alright. I'm outta here. It was fun writing again. Happy New Year.

Where were you at?
I like the post ryan willen comment, theres no cockyness in that post :)
After reading the comment on the other blog that got you to write this one, I have only one thing to say...It never ceases to amaze me how cocky and stupid Sikeston's student section is. Simply amazing. We'll see how cocky they are when Borgia puts the average Bulldogs out of it come quarterfinals.
-a Sikeston resident, but NOT a fan.
Im glad your a true Mizzou fans boy it sucks winning 30 games in 3 years'''go find another team
To "a Sikeston resident, but NOT a fan".
I hope u don't mess your keyboard up crying all over it. Sikeston has a legitimate chance of goin all the way and all u can do is cry about the way Sikeston kids cheer for their team. Pitiful. When I graduated from Sikeston the bums had been disbanded and recognized as a gang for their actions outside of school and some of their raucous cheers. I remember games where they were actually walked out of the field house.
(reminiscing) Aww those were the days.
These kids are not even close to being in the same category as the 98-2000 bums. I think you're confusing cockiness with pride.
-not a Sikeston resident, but STILL a fan.
The thing of it is, they claim to have had a legitimate chance and talked crap about how bad they would beat Notre Dame for the past couple years, and what has it got them? Nothing. Just the affirmation of their bad reputation. Pride is one thing, being rude and cocky, and acting like nobody can touch your team when in truth they aren't that great...that's another.
-STILL not a fan
Hahaha, Sikesto student section is great. They love being cocky, and they are the best around I think. I love them. I am a Jackson Indian grad, but they have been good this year.
Forget Borgia, wait till ND. You'll see cocky then. We'll beat Borgia.
I'm from Cape, and I personally think Sikeston's group is funny. They are better than most around...
How are they so cocky dude? And Cape central or ND isnt?
How bout when ND does the want some, get some thing? Is that not cocky?
Keep it up ALL student sections, they make the game fun. I think a few years ago they got 2nnd in state, so cockyness must be working...
still not a fan-
Seems to me that someones favorite team got murdered, and you ahd to find somethin to cry about, so u pick on the students....your cool...
the bums are actually funny i think
Not in school anymore, and don't have kids in school. Just calling it like I see it.
David, do you need a hug? So if ND happens to beat Sikeston next year are you going to write post-Michael Porter?
the "getcha some, getcha some, got some, got some" cheer is in no way meant to be cocky, it's just the cheer nd does when they make a three pointer. What about that could be conveyed as cocky?
the point I was making is that they are cheers meant to show school pride regardless if it's Sikeston's bums, Cape's Jungle, or ND's blue crew. I did it in high school and the kids after them are going to do it. I guess they should all sit around singing Kum ba yah or saying how nice the other team looks. It's no different than college kids cheering for their team. Also there's nothing wrong with backing your team. If they don't win so what, better to back them at all times then be a bandwagon jumper gettin on when the team's hot. I will back Sikeston at all times. Of course I was upset when they lost to ND last season but hey s@%t happens. I get tired of people painting that picture of Sikeston fans as elitist or cocky for supporting their team.
-not a Sikeston resident, but still a fan.
hmmm what do they call people that talk about people from sikeston-morons.
I think it should read...
a Sikeston resident, but I go to school at Notre Dame.
I bet that's ALOT closer to the truth.
Man,
I don't know who is dumber
SIKESTON or ND
Really!!!!!!
GO SCC!!!
I know Sikeston is scared
Everytime I get on here it reminds me of the teacher from Charlie Brown. Wah wa whaa wha wah wa... Bunch of talk that no one really can back. ND wasn't better than Sikeston last year. They just beat them when it count. Sikeston wasn't better than ND 3 years ago they just beat them when it count. The year in between proves this with a last second OOPs that feel in and ND took the easy road to the Final 4... I do feel Sikeston is better this season after watching them beat my Bulldogs in the Semo Conf. Tourney and then a week or two later. Right now we are young and can learn alot by districts... Enough to beat Sikeston I don't know but we can improve... Sikeston has a great team. So stop the $hit talking and move on cause from what I see on the court the kids are good sports and have a great time competing against one-another... POST WILLEN IS A BULL $HIT LINE DAVID...I remeber Sikeston had another State athlete the year they beat us and I think his name was Baird... So Post Baird I guess we were the better team... Man GROW UP!!!
You're referring to Julian Beard. I believe he was 2nd team all-state. He's playing JUCO ball up in Iowa this year at Marshalltown Community College.
Post Ryan Willen--hahahahaha You are the biggest cry baby of them all!!! ND beat Sikeston in baseball -post Blake Dewitt!! Wow these is easy to throw lame jabs in, built in excuses for all!!
About the cockyness
If you say sikeston is cocky, you cant begin to say ND isnt.
We are cocky, and we dont care if ppl get mad about it. But nd, central, jaxon are too....
Post Willen, hahah whatta joke David. Willen was a beast, but that sounds like a cop-out to me
Anonymous, when you say sikeston is scared, do you mean Bobby Hatchett too? He is as much apart of Sikeston as everyone else here!!!!!!
David
Good to have you back on the air...I sense a little down from the mountain flavor in your writings.
How bout a wild rafting tale from Durango to get us midwesterners pumped up! Maybe a recounting of the latest game smoke and ballgame brought home for dinner.
We are bored in this part of the world; all of our sports team went home for the winter before summer training camp ended.
Does the Durango Herald deliver to Missouri?
King
WOW
ND IS THE BEST...
SIKESTON SUCKS!!!!
SCC GOT LUCKY...
I don't get it. David gave every sikeston fan what they want: credit for being better than ND. Now everybody's mad at him for it. You people are retarded. Get a life. Get off your computer and go ride a bike or something.
I'm glad we have two or three people writing almost every comment on this blog, claiming they are from different areas of southeast Missouri and claiming they love the Sikeston student section so much. Yeah...right.
Sounds like someone is jealous of the Bleacher Bums
Haha. Calling someone an idiot, then making yourself like a COMPLETE moron: Of the 9 "login screen names" you listed, only ONE (king) is an ACTUAL login screen name. You see, if you don't have to LOG IN, then it's not a LOGIN name. The same person could've been all 9 of those names, which is exactly my point about how two or three people have been writing the same idiotic things on here this whole time. Wow. Get a life, bud.
I love seeing a "sports writer" (don't really feel you qualify as one) question coach's play calling. Must have done something right...this has been some of the best stretches in Mizzou football history. Give playcalling in a game situation...not as easy as it looks. Anybody can make the "right" call from the stands. You suck and so do your blogs.
Every time people watch football games they question play calling. Relax man. And if you hate this blog so much then why are you reading it and getting so worked up over it?
