.478 in his last eight games. 11 rbi in his last seven, and 13 in his last ten. His overall batting average is up to .317. And he jacked his first career homerun on Monday night, then followed that up with another on Tuesday, albeit in unusual fashion. It was an inside job, stoic and sly, that capped a five run Dodger come back.
But it wasn't even legging out a four bagger that had Blake DeWitt giddy. His bases loaded two out, two run single in the third made a 4-1 Mets lead nearly vanish just as quick as Dodger fans are starting to forget about NO-MA.
Remember when Nomar came into the league? For the first couple years, he was big time. I mean, he was on par with A-Rod and Jeter for two years. He was being taken top ten in fantasy drafts. I don't care how many injuries he's had, it's still surprising to see a local Sikeston product stealing this once-upon-a-time Hall of Famers night gig.
And he's doing just that. On Monday, Dodger manager Joe Torre said the job was Nomar's when he got back, but only 24 hours later he doubled back on himself. "I don't have to make that decision now," said Torre.
But soon enough he will. And the DeWitt craze is coming. The Dodgers just added a Sikeston affiliate to their broadcasting scheme, and I would assume DeWitt jerseys are being printed somewhere. Maybe even in bulk.
I hope he's real. And it seems as though he is. Pitchers have had time to figure him out, they just can't break him.

Dewitt jerseys are all around Sikeston. I hope they make some official ones, like you see in the stores. Blake could always hit, and is a down to earth kind of guy. I hope he keeps it going, I know Sikeston sure is loving it!!

Joe Torre called DeWitt a "godsend." Quite a compliment from such a successful manager. How about DeWitt's walk-off hit last night? The guy is SICK! I'm buying a DeWitt jersey as soon as they hit the stores. They sure go crazy for Tyler Hansbrough at Champs, and he's not even a pro yet. They better start putting out some DeWitt gear. They have Nomar and Jeff Kent jerseys on the Dodgers Web site, but no DeWitt as far as I can see. Go figure.
I think it'll be a while. You can be sure I'l se a million of em, including the one I will be wearing, soon as they come out ;)
I'l holler if i hear about em, but I bet they dont come out untill he stays for the full year. It's hard to believe the shaggy haired kid wearing baggy pants that I took BP with earlier in the year is tearing up the majors. Keep killing Blake!
